Are Fibr Kitchen Sinks Really that Easy To Clean?
Are you a sceptic like me?
When you’re in the market for a new kitchen sink, you can easily find yourself sinking in an ocean of variety.
And when you throw in all the big promises like easy to clean and stain-resistant… you can’t help feel sceptical on top of being overwhelmed!
And you know what?
As someone who works in the kitchen industry… I’ve seen and heard it all. So I was a major disbeliever when I heard how easy a Fibr Kitchen Sink is to clean.
Now, it’s obvious… they’re one of the best looking sinks I’d ever seen – no denying that…
But in this day and age of BIG promises about how stain and scratch-resistant a sink is…
I needed to see the proof with my own eyes.
If Styl was going to be the exclusive seller of Fibr sinks in Australia, I had to be 100% confident.
So, I did what any semi-sane person would do…
I covered one of the white Fibr sinks in the most notorious kitchen stainers I could find…
Left it for 24 hours…
Then…using only warm soapy water and an everyday eraser sponge I attempted to restore the sink to its brand new, untouched look.

It might seem obvious to most, but I want you to know that I didn’t want to leave any room for doubt in the results of this experiment.
I chose the white sink because it shows every bit of dirt, blemish and drop of discoloured water.
There’s simply no way to fake how clean it is.First Impressions Of A Fibr Sink.
Here’s what a brand new–unused–White Fibr Double Bowl Sink looks like fresh out of the box:
I also gave it a quick wipe down to remove any residue.
I gotta say…seeing the Fibr sink in real life is a moment you do not want to gloss over.
So often, when our customers first see their Fibr sink in real life, they’ll send us comments like:
“This sink is even more beautiful in person, I’m so unbelievably happy with how it has tied our whole kitchen together. It’s definitely the statement piece. I just love it and I’ve had so many compliments on it!
Super quick delivery too!” – Jenna
And now, with the White Fibr Double Bowl Sink sitting there looking like a picture of modern perfection… I started to feel a little anxious about potentially ruining something so pretty.
INTRODUCING: The Staining OffendersI decided that if I was going to do this, I wouldn’t hold back.
So I took to it with things you’d never EVER dare leave on your kitchen sink – the worst stainers you can find in any kitchen.
Here’s what I used:
- Green Food Colouring
- Mustard
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Turmeric I’d mixed with water to make a paste
- Red wine
- Curry Paste
- Coffee
Even now, looking at the image, My inner clean freak is twitching under my skin. As much as I hated not cleaning it up straight away… I went home and left the stainers to do their worst.
That night I had nightmares of the turmeric and food colouring clawing its way deep into the surface of this modern beauty.
Next day… I may, or may not, have shed a little tear when I saw the damage: That stuff was baked on!
And the food colouring was the worst. It had run down the drainer and into the bottom of the bowl.
I was convinced there’d be no way to get it clean and I was getting emotionally prepared to declare this sink a “write off”.
But I’d started this… I had to finish it.
I wiped down the surface with a paper towel.Honestly, I thought it was ruined. Just look at it!
Then, mixing up some warm soapy water, I gave the sink a good wipe down with a fibre cloth.
Here’s where it got me: Now, it’s not like I just wiped it down once and everything came off. This was a general back and forth for around 30-60 secs over the surface.
But, seeing the progress, my anxiety levels started to come down. There was hope that I may actually pull this thing off!
But don’t celebrate… yet.So Close, Yet So Far…There was still food colouring, turmeric and curry embedded in the sink – it was a long way off from looking “brand new”.
Grabbing an eraser sponge and a fresh bowl of warm soapy water, I gave it a decent scrub for another 30-60 secs.
In the more stubborn areas, I applied a little more pressure. But again, it wasn’t like I was wearing myself out. Just a basic scrub with a little extra pressure when I needed to.And just like that, my Fibr Kitchen Sink was completely clean and looking brand new again!Amazing, right?
My Fibr Kitchen Sink looks just like it did when I took it out of the box!
It blew me away that I can take a white sink, cover it in some of the worst stainers you can find, leave it OVERNIGHT and then, clean it all off – with not one iota of stain remaining – using only warm soapy water and an everyday eraser sponge. And When You Clean Your Fibr Sink, You’ll Find It Even Easier!I’ll be the first to admit that I went way overboard with this experiment!
But that was the point.
Because, if you think about it…
99% of the time when you go in to clean your sink, you’re not cleaning up food colouring, turmeric and stuff that’s been sitting for 24 hrs… it’s simply the remnants of the day or the cleanup of a meal you prepared not too long before.
That means: your cleanup will be way quicker and easier than anything I did in this experiment.
And most times, a fibre cloth and warm soapy water are all you need to maintain a hygienic surface and brand new look.A Word Of Warning AGAINST Buying A White Sink. Before wrapping this up, I want to talk directly to those considering installing a White Sink in your kitchen.
Firstly… your taste is on point.
But… the caveat of owning a white sink is that the surface always shows up dirt more than any other coloured surface.
Makes sense.
So, if you wash potatoes and leave dirty water sitting in the sink, guess what…
It looks dirty and you have to clean it…
If you live in an area with hard water, guess what…
You’ll have to clean it more often…
What I’m saying is this:
Yes, a Fibr Kitchen Sink is easy to clean – you’ve seen the proof with your own eyes…
But a white sink will always need to be cleaned more often…
It’s NOT stained… you just see more dirt than other coloured sinks. The Secret Behind Fibr’s Amazing Stain-Resistant Surface.Although Fibr has a similar appearance to granite, it’s not the same thing.
Fibr is made of a non-porous material called SMC composite – a high-strength composite material made up of a combination of resins and reinforced with long glass fibres.
